A joint operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF) in Karuwalagaswewa, Puttalam, on Saturday (5th), led to the arrest of a 54-year-old suspect found with 2,020 foreign cigarettes being transported on a bus.
The Sri Lanka Navy stated that the operation followed a tip-off received by SLNS Thambapanni in coordination with the Police STF.
The suspect, a resident of Puttalam, along with the seized cigarettes, was handed over to Karuwalagaswewa Police for further legal action. (NewsWire)
