The bomb disposal squad was called to the Russian Embassy in Colombo today over a parcel that had been left behind by a foreign national.
According to media reports, a foreigner had handed over a parcel containing a laptop and had immediately left the embassy premises.
Following suspicion over the parcel, the embassy staff had informed the Cinnamon Gardens Police.
Officials from the Cinnamon Gardens Police, Special Task Force (STF) and bomb disposal squad had arrived at the embassy along with a police K9 to investigate the said parcel.
Following preliminary inquiries, the laptop in question had been taken to the Cinnamon Gardens Police for further investigation. (Newswire)
