A tense situation was reported this afternoon near the Ministry of Education in Isurupaya, Battaramulla, as Police attempted to disperse a protest staged by Development Officers.
Several Police officers were reportedly injured during the incident, and three protesters were taken into custody.
The protesters were demanding permanent positions in the teaching service.
Earlier, the protest obstructed the Kottawa-Borella Road (174 bus route) opposite of the Ministry, disrupting traffic. (Newswire)
