The Sri Lanka Thriposha Company is now operating around the clock to ensure continuous production and nationwide distribution of nutritional supplements, Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed following an inspection visit to the factory in Kandana.
The minister observed factory operations and reviewed the 24-hour production cycle now in place to supply Thriposha products across the country. As part of a broader revitalization strategy, the government also plans to open 100 Thriposha retail outlets nationwide in the coming months.
During the visit, Dr. Jayatissa met with company leadership, including new Chairman Amal Aththanayake, and engaged in detailed discussions on the challenges and future plans. Topics included raw material supply, transportation logistics, workforce stability, financial performance, and the expansion of product lines and marketing initiatives.
Officials said Thriposha is now distributed to districts such as Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kalutara, Kilinochchi, Colombo, Gampaha, and Puttalam via railway and lorry transport. Special attention is also being given to vulnerable groups—children under three, pregnant mothers, and lactating women—through direct delivery by Health Ministry vehicles.
Amid concerns in recent months that the company was on the verge of closure, Dr. Jayatissa said the government had taken decisive steps over the past nine months to stabilize operations. He emphasized that political opponents had amplified speculation about the company’s future, but the revival efforts had now turned Thriposha into a profit-making public enterprise.
“Under sound political leadership and professional management, Thriposha has strengthened operations with over 230 employees and recorded more than Rs. 300 million in post-tax profits to the Treasury,” the minister noted.
Chairman Aththanayake added that machinery is now functioning at full capacity, and a new “Suposha Calorie Bar” made from Thriposha ingredients is being introduced in various flavors, including cupcakes. These are already available at the Suposha outlet in Ja-Ela, with plans to expand to 100 outlets islandwide. (Newswire)
