Four police teams have been assigned to investigate the shooting targeting Thusitha Halloluwa, former Director General of Public Relations to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, with CCTV footage from the area now under detailed review.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said the investigation was handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) on the instructions of Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya.
The attack occurred last night (17) in Narahenpita, when Halloluwa was travelling with his lawyer. Two individuals on a motorcycle followed the vehicle, fired shots into the air, and then at the front windshield once the car stopped.
Halloluwa said both he and his lawyer were assaulted by the attackers and were later admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. He also claimed the gunmen fled with a file containing important documents from the vehicle. (Newswire)
