A 29-year-old woman from Kotahena has been arrested in Seeduwa for allegedly trafficking drugs concealed inside a toy, using her 8-year-old child in the operation, police said.
The arrest was made during a special joint raid conducted early this morning (26) in the Rajapaksapura area in Seeduwa by Police, the Special Task Force, and the Tri-Forces.
According to police, the suspect was found in a boarding room with her child when officers noticed her suspiciously carrying a toy out of the premises. Upon inspection, the teddy bear was found to contain Ice (crystal meth), heroin, Kerala cannabis, and a digital scale.
Further checks revealed additional packets of Ice hidden on the suspect’s body.
Investigations indicate the woman had travelled from Kotahena to Seeduwa with the narcotics concealed in the toy given to the child. She is believed to have used the Seeduwa location to repackage the drugs before distributing them in Kotahena. (Newswire)
