Jyoti Malhotra, a 33-year-old travel vlogger from India known online as “Travel with Jo,” was arrested on charges of espionage for allegedly transmitting sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives.
Malhotra, who has over 377,000 YouTube subscribers, allegedly established contact with a Pakistan High Commission staffer, Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, while applying for a visa in 2023. She reportedly traveled to Pakistan twice, where authorities allege she met with intelligence officials and later shared information upon returning to India.
Investigators claim she used platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat to transmit details about Indian Army movements and locations. A YouTube video showing her attending an Iftar dinner hosted by the Pakistan High Commission, where she interacted with Rahim, has emerged as key evidence.
She has been charged under the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and is currently in police custody under a five-day remand.
The case has prompted authorities to begin reviewing content creators with international connections, citing concerns over digital platforms being exploited for espionage. (Newswire)
