Two persons have been injured in a shooting incident reported in the Harumalgoda area on the Dikkumbura Road in Habaraduwa on Sunday night.
The Police said two gunmen on a motorcycle had opened fire on two other men who were walking on the road and had fled the area.
One victim who had escaped unhurt in the shooting is reported to have fled the area, while the other injured victim had attempted to get into a three-wheeler, when the suspects returned and fired at the vehicle, injuring the driver as well.
However, the driver of the three-wheeler is said to have driven off without stopping after which both injured victims had been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.
The two injured persons, aged 34 and 54 years are residents of the Habaraduwa and Angulugaha areas.
Police investigations reveal that a pistol had been used in the shooting, while the cause of the shooting is yet to be ascertained. The Habaraduwa Police is conducting investigations to apprehend the suspects involved in the incident. (Newswire)
