Senior politicians Dullas Alahapperuma and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena have opted not to submit nominations for the upcoming Parliamentary election from the Matara district.
Alahapperuma, who backed Sajith Premadasa in the presidential race, is notably absent from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) candidate list for Matara. Similarly, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena’s name is missing from both the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and the so-called “Gas Cylinder” alliance lists in the district. (NewsWire)
