A devastating bus accident occurred early Sunday morning in the Gerandiella area of Ramboda, resulting in the deaths of 15 individuals and injuries to 30 others. The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus, traveling from Kurunegala to Kataragama, veered off the Nuwara Eliya–Gampola main road and plunged down a steep precipice.
All passengers aboard sustained injuries and were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Emergency response teams, including police and local residents, collaborated in the rescue operations.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the bus may have lost control while navigating a sharp bend in the mountainous terrain. (Newswire)
