US Navy ship Michael Murphy arrives in Colombo

USS Michael Murphy of the United States Navy arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit on Tuesday (July 23) and was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

According to the Navy, the 155m-long Arleigh Burke class of guided missile destroyer is manned by a crew of 323 and is commanded by Commander Jonathan B. Greenwald.

Upon arrival, Commander Greenwald called on Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. The cordial interaction came to an end with an exchange of mementoes.

During its stay, crew members of the USS Michael Murphy are expected to visit some of the tourist attractions in Sri Lanka.
