US tariff: “Sri Lanka secured the largest reduction from 44% to 30%”

“This is a positive moment for Sri Lanka,” Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra said, announcing that the U.S. has reduced import tariffs on Sri Lankan goods from 44% in April to 30% in July — the largest cut among all listed countries.

Hemachandra attributed the breakthrough to “quiet, determined diplomacy” and the strengthening of bilateral ties, thanking the U.S. Administration for its constructive engagement.

He also praised Sri Lanka’s negotiating team for their dedication and professionalism, noting that the revision will provide vital relief and new opportunities for the country’s export sector. (NewsWire)
