The National People’s Power (NPP) will not win the upcoming Local Council Elections, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
Addressing a political rally, the former President said the NPP will also fail to secure a majority in many of the councils.
Ranil Wickremesinghe said his campaign expects to seize power by collectively securing the majority.
“I do not know about the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, but several other groups have voiced their support for this move. The Chairman of a council is elected based on the number of party members in the council. So, our aim is to elect as many members as possible to these councils,” he said.
Stating that the NPP requested a chance during the Presidential Election and it was given to them, the former President questioned what was the result of it.
“I told not to give it to L-board people, but to give it to more experienced persons. But L-Board people were elected. Now, the vehicle has already crashed, right? Is there anything remaining to be collected?” he added. (Newswire)
