President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says Sri Lanka has spent $207 million on vehicle imports since the import ban was lifted on 1 February.
He stated that Letters of Credit (LCs) worth $207 million have already been opened and that the government plans to allocate up to $1 billion this year for vehicle imports.
The President added that daily monitoring is underway to ensure import targets are met without pressuring foreign reserves.
He also noted that the government aims to achieve the necessary tax revenue through these vehicle imports. (NewsWire)
