WATCH : Bangladesh keeper left embarrassed after comical error

In the third unofficial One Day International between Bangladesh A and New Zealand A, wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan found himself in an embarrassing situation after a misjudged position behind the stumps led to the ball striking a helmet placed on the ground.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Nurul appeared caught off guard by the trajectory of the ball, which went on to hit the helmet. Both batters, Phillips and Mairu, seemed momentarily confused before eventually taking a single. The umpire, however, signaled five penalty runs in accordance with the rules.

According to Law 28.3.2 of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), “If the ball while in play strikes the protective helmet, the ball shall immediately become dead, and the umpire shall signal No ball or Wide to the scorers if applicable, or award 5 Penalty runs to the batting side.”
