Government parliamentarian Sugath Wasantha D. Perera made history today by presenting a motion to adjourn the sitting of parliament using a note written in Braille system for the first time.
During the proceedings, Perera, who is visually impaired, said he was proud to have written and read the motion in Braille.
Braille is a tactile writing system used by people who are visually impaired. It consists of raised dots arranged in patterns that represent letters, numbers, punctuation, and even musical and mathematical symbols. Readers use their fingertips to feel and interpret the dots. (NewsWire)
