The reports claiming that the water supply to a part of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Wijerama residence are false, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board said.
Issuing a statement, the Water Board said that there were no interruptions to the water supply to the former president’s residence.
However, water supply had been disconnected at a property near Rajapaksa’s residence where several of his former security personnel had resided.
The personnel had vacated the property in October 2024, and the utility bills for this property had been paid by the Presidential Secretariat, the statement said.
The Water Board said that multiple requests had been made to the secretariat to settle the arrears.
An outstanding amount of approximately Rs. 429,000 in unpaid water bills remains for the property. (Newswire)
