Three people, including two women, were injured when a wall collapsed at a garment factory in Dematagoda
2. Tree fall damages homes in Grandpass
A tree fell near the Grandpass Police Station, damaging six houses in the area.
3. Vehicle damage in Maligawatta
Several vehicles were damaged as falling trees and debris were reported in parts of Maligawatta.
4. Multiple tree-fall incidents in Colombo
At least eight incidents of trees falling were reported across Colombo due to strong winds.
5. Railway lines obstructed
Trees and power lines have fallen on all major railway routes, including the Coastal, Main, Chilaw, and Kelani Valley lines. Railway teams are clearing the tracks.
6. Power outages across the island
Power supply has been disrupted in multiple areas. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has deployed extra teams to restore power and urged the public to report outages via the ‘CEBCare’ app or short code 1987.
7. More heavy rain expected
The Department of Meteorology warns of rainfall exceeding 100mm in the next 24 hours in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.
