Wijesekara welcomes restart of schemes funded by previous government

Former Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara, has welcomed the resumption of several government initiatives, including the increase of the fertilizer subsidy announced yesterday.

Wijesekera said that these schemes, initially funded by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government, were paused by the Election Commission during the Presidential election.

The projects have now resumed under President Anura Dissanayake, Wijesekera said.

The revived policies include increasing the fertilizer subsidy from LKR 15,000 to LKR 25,000 and introducing a fuel subsidy for fishermen.

Wijesekara also highlighted the procurement of solar panels for religious institutions under the Indian Credit Line, with the first shipment arriving in July. (Newswire)

It’s good to see that schemes approved, allocated funds through the treasury and initiated by President @RW_SRILANKA that was stopped by the election commission during the Presidential election recommencing under President @anuradisanayake.
