Sri Lanka beat England by 8 wickets in the third and final Test of the three-match series played at The Oval on Monday (September 9). Sri Lanka chased down the target of 219 runs in the fourth inning on Day 4 of the match for the loss of only two wickets. Opening batter Pathum Nissanka top-scored for the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side by remaining unbeaten on 127 runs from 124 balls. During his stay at the crease, the right-handed batter scored 13 fours and two sixes. He added 111 runs for the third wicket with Angelo Matthews (32 not out) to take Sri Lanka past the finish line in 40.3 overs.
