Government institutions must get written permission from the Prime Minister’s Office or the relevant ministry before using the Prime Minister’s or ministers’ photos and messages for official events or activities, according to a fresh government directive.
Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri has issued this directive which has been communicated to all ministry secretaries, provincial chief secretaries, heads of departments, and leaders of state institutions, statutory bodies, and state-owned companies.
This guideline applies to all events and programs funded with public money, the directive said, applicable to all printed or digital publications, commemorative plaques, or monuments.
In a similar directive issued earlier, Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumara instructed all government institutions to secure written approval from the Presidential Secretariat before using the President’s photographs or messages on commemorative plaques or special publications.
