Young Journalist dies in tragic road accident

Priyan Malinda, a well-known regional journalist, tragically passed away early this morning (May 17) following a fatal road accident in the Galwanguwa area of Habarana.

According to police, the accident occurred while Malinda was travelling from Eheliyagoda to Kantale on a motorcycle, when he was struck by a lorry. The lorry had fled the scene following the collision. However, several parts believed to belong to the vehicle were found at the site and are being used to aid in police investigations.

Priyan Malinda, who was 34 years old at the time of his passing, had served as a regional correspondent for both the Rupavahini and Lake House. Known for his versatility and dedication, he quickly rose to prominence in the media field, earning respect for his work in wildlife reporting and mobile journalism. (Newswire)
