A 29-year-old youth identified as Udara Chathuranga, a resident of Heenatiyana, Katunayake, was injured in a shooting incident early this morning (26), police said.
The shooting took place around 5:35 a.m. inside his residence, while he was asleep in a bedroom with his father.
Initial investigations reveal that two unidentified gunmen, who arrived on a motorcycle, fired two rounds at the house using a T-56 assault rifle.
Police said the victim is known for operating several business establishments and engaging in money lending activities.
Following the incident, the injured youth was first admitted to the Minuwangoda Base Hospital and later transferred to the Gampaha General Hospital for further treatment.
